The CIEH Level 2 Award in Healthier Food and Special Diets has been developed as an accredited nutrition qualification in light of increased public interest in this area. Consumers have become increasingly aware of the effects of a poor diet and businesses are keen to understand the links between diet and health to meet changing customer demands.

CIEH Level 3 Award in PTLLS - Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector
By 2010, anyone who teaches courses that are publicly-funded will have to be qualified. This qualification introduces the knowledge and skills required by teachers to develop and deliver programmes, provide learning support and take responsibility in managing the learning process in post-16 education.
This qualification has been developed for anyone entering teaching or training roles or already in-service who needs to achieve the minimum threshold status as a teacher in the lifelong learning sector – that is, adult and community learning and development, further education, libraries, archives and information services and work-based learning.

CIEH Level 3 Award in Supervising Food Safety in Catering
This 3 day course is designed for supervisors, team- leaders, managers and owners who require a broad understanding of food safety enabling them to identify problem areas and recommend solutions.
The course is relevant to all catering operations i.e. restaurants, pubs, hotels, fast-food outlets, contract catering, hospitals, care and nursing homes, travel, schools, prisons and the armed forces.
The correct handling of food will ensure food poisioning and contamination is kept as low as possible and this can only be done by educating food handlers.
Changes in legislation effective from January 2006 have placed greater onus and accountability on anyone in the food business with supervisory responsibility. It is therefore vital they are equipped with both the knowledge and confidence to do their job effectively.

The CIEH Level 3 Award in Training Skills and Practice is aimed at those who want to develop practical training skills and/or meet the minimum training requirement for registering to deliver CIEH vocationally related qualifications without public funding. Completing this award will equip candidates with the basic knowledge and skills required to develop and deliver training programmes, provide learning support and take responsibility in managing the learning process.
The qualification is essential for those who wish to become CIEH registered trainers (certain other training qualifications are also recognised, and conditions regarding technical knowledge and experience also apply).
The programme will involve a significant amount of hands-on activity with additional work outside the sessions to develop the content and materials for assessment on the final day. The programme is quite demanding because it results in the acquisition of new skills and techniques over a short period.

CIEH Level 4 Award in Managing Food Safety in Catering
The CIEH Level 4 Award in Managing Food Safety in Catering has been designed as a 5 day programme to provide an in-depth understanding of food safety with an emphasis on the importance of the management of systems and staff.
It is important for everyone in a managing or supervising position to have mastered the principles of good practice in food safety, thus gaining the ability to guide and advise on the management of food hygiene in a food business.
This course is designed for owners, managers, trainers, supervisors with Level 3 Food Safety knowledge and those who monitor and audit food safety systems.
Candidates attending this course will be provided with a comprehensive handbook which will cover all aspects of the syllabus.
Candidates wishing to sit this course will need to provide photographic identification in the form of a valid:

In addition to the training, candidates are required to submit two assignments from the list set by the CIEH. The required standard of 30 marks must be achieved in each assignment before the candidate is eligible to sit the examination.

National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders (NCPLH)
The law requires alcohol sales on licensed premises to be made or authorised by a personal licence holder. Individuals applying for a personal licence must hold an accredited licensing qualification.
The aim of the PLH qualification is to provide candidates with essential knowledge of the legal framework surrounding the sale of alcohol in England and Wales. This includes key information on the responsibilities of personal licence holders, duties of the Designated Premises Supervisor, the role of licensing authorities and police powers regarding licensed premises.

IOSH Managing Safely
The Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) have developed the Manging Safely course for managers and supervisors in any sector, and any organisation. This 4 days course has been designed to get managers up to speed on the practical actions they need to take in order to handle health and safety in their workplace effectively.
Candidates must pass an end of course test and workplace practical risk assessment project.
Delegates are responsible for submitting their assessments within the required timescales. If assessments are not submitted by this time the candidate will fail the course.
Those who attend, and successfully complete the course, will be awarded a certificate from the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).
IOSH Working Safely
The Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) have developed the Working safely course for people at any level, in any sector, needing a grounding in the essentials of health and safety. The training course covers all of the health and safety basics plus environmental issues.
Assessment is via written and practical tests included in the day's training, with proof of learning achievement through either an IOSH certificate or credit card-sized working safely 'passport'
card.
National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders (NCPLH)

NEBOSH Construction Certificate

The NEBOSH National Construction Certificate is aimed at Supervisors, Managers and CDM co-ordinators within the construction industry who are required to ensure that activities under their control are undertaken safely.
It is likely to prove useful for those concerned with the management of buildings who may need to ensure that contractors are working safely. The qualification is also appropriate for supervisors and managers working in other industries such as utilities, and even broadcasting, where temporary workplaces are a feature of their activities.
NEBOSH Fire Certificate
This course will include the National General Certificate (NGC1) element and will take place on the following dates: -

The NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management course covers the management of health and safety and in particular fire safety including legal requirements. It also includes principles of fire and explosion, causes and prevention of fires, fire protection in buildings and ensuring the safety of people in the event of fire.
This qualification will equip holders to carry out fire risk assessments of most workplaces and identify the range of fire protective and preventative measures required. It is therefore also suitable for people moving into fire safety adviser roles.

The NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management course covers the management of health and safety and in particular fire safety including legal requirements. It also includes principles of fire and explosion, causes and prevention of fires, fire protection in buildings and ensuring the safety of people in the event of fire.
This qualification will equip holders to carry out fire risk assessments of most workplaces and identify the range of fire protective and preventative measures required. It is therefore also suitable for people moving into fire safety adviser roles.

Successful delegates will be awarded the NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety on completion of the course. The NEBOSH Certificate is accepted by IOSH – the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health – in meetingthe academic requirements for Technician Membership of IOSH (Tech IOSH). It is also accepted by The International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM) for associate membership.

It has been designed for managers, supervisors and employee representatives and is ideal for anyone who wants to establish a career in health and safety.
SMSTS - CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme
This 5 day course is designed for site managers, agents and persons who are, or are about to be, responsible for planning, organising, monitoring, controlling and administering groups of staff and workforce.
The course covers all relevant legislation and other aspects which affect safe working in the building, construction and civil engineering industries. It highlights the need for risk assessment in the workplace, the implementation of the necessary control measures and adequate communication to sustain a health and safety culture among the workforce.
SSSTS - CITB Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme
This two day course is intended for those who have, or are about to acquire, supervisory responsibilities. It provides supervisors with an understanding of health, safety, welfare and environmental issues, as well as their legal responsibilities relevant to their work activities. It will highlight the requirement to promote health and safety to supervise effectively.
This course is endorsed by the United Kingdom Contractors Group as the standard training for all supervisors working on UKCG sites.
UKATA Asbestos Awareness
The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006, Regulation 10 requires every employer to ensure that adequate information, instruction and training is given to their employees who are or who are liable to be exposed to asbestos, or who supervise such employees.
Asbestos awareness training is required to be given to employees whose work could foreseeably expose them to asbestos. In particular, it should be given to all demolition workers and those workers in the refurbishment, maintenance and allied trades where it is foreseeable that their work will disturb the fabric of the building because ACMs may become exposed during their work. Exemption from this requirement would apply only where the employer can demonstrate that work will only be carried out in or on buildings free of ACMs.
First Aid Courses
HSE Approved Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)
This course has been designed for any member of an organisation who is likely to find themselves taking charge of, or who has been appointed to take charge of, first aid equipment during a first aid emergency, in the absence of a qualified First Aider. This is a one-day course recommended by the HSE as the minimum level of training for persons in low-risk workplace environments.
The aim of the course is to provide participants with sufficient knowledge and confidence to deal with an accident until a qualified first aider or the emergency services take charge of the situation.
All candidates should be aware that the course is of a practical nature therefore casual clothes should be worn. Female personnel attending are advised to wear trousers.

The HSE strongly recommends that all first aiders complete a half-day refresher course annually
HSE Approved First Aid at Work (FAW)
This course covers the practical skills needed by a first aider in the modern workplace and will give candidates the confidence and knowledge to deal with first aid emergencies.
Where an employer has identified a need for a fully qualified First Aider, a person should be nominated for training in accordance with HSE guidance and legal obligations.
Potential First Aiders should:
- Possess an aptitude to absorb knowledge & skills
- Be able to cope with stressful and physically demanding emergency procedures
- Have duties that do not prevent them going immediately to an emergency
The first aid at work (FAW) course involves at least 18 hours of training and is run over three days.
On successful completion of the course and final assessment, the delegate will receive the HSE Approved, nationally recognised, First Aid at Work Certificate. This is valid for three years.
The HSE strongly recommends that all first aiders complete a half-day refresher course annually
Paediatric First Aid
Please note the dates for this course are Saturday 16th & Saturday 23rd October 2010
This paediatric first aid course meets the requirements of the Early Years foundation stage statutory framework and is also NCMA/PLA Approved.
The course focuses on emergency scenarios that are faced by professionals, including teachers, au pairs and playgroup leaders, looking after young children. It meets Ofsted requirements for registered childminders and the requirements for nannies under the Approved Carers Scheme. It can also be used as evidence for employees working towards an NVQ in Childcare and Education.

Fire Marshal/Warden
This course is acreddited by the Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE)
Fire Marshall or Fire Warden Training is essential to ensure that employees, who are designated to undertake the role of fire prevention and evacuation, understand their duties within the The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Thereby making the workplace a safer environment.
The aim of the course is to give staff a greater understanding of the fire risks in the workplace and be able to evacuate the premises effectively. Participants will learn about fire, the way in which it spreads and the best way to tackle a fire.
An understanding of fire safety risks and how to prevent them will be gained. Candidates will learn how to use fire extinguishers correctly and safely on a live fire where location permits.
