The IOSH Safety for Senior Executives course will enable executives to review policys and strategies and, where necessary, introduce changes to enhance the safety culture within their organisation. This course is intended for people with strategic responsibility for determining and implementing effective health and safety management within an organisation.
Course Objectives
This short course will provide the senior managers and executives with the following: -
- an overview and interpretation of legal responsibilities
- cost-effective strategies for accident prevention and loss control
- guidance on the application of these strategies in the workplace

The IOSH Safety for Senior Executives course covers many safety issues relevant to senior managers and senior executives, including the following:
- Cost of accidents at work
- Framework of UK health and safety legislation
- Civil liability and common law duty of care
- Effects of recent civil cases upon organisations
- Corporate manslaughter and personal manslaughter
- Corporate governance
- Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
- Health and safety duties of employers, contractors, occupiers, suppliers, employees, managers, and directors
- Implications of criminal law cases against companies and individual directors
- Criminal liability
- Relevance of other legislation and codes of practice
- Safety management systems - HSG65, OHSAS 18001
- Government safety strategy including Directors’ Code of Practice
Assessment
Each candidate will be required to sit a multiple choice test at the end of the IOSH Safety for Senior Executives course. Candidates who successfully achieve a score of 70% or higher will receive an IOSH accredited certificate
