NYC 32 Hour DOB Supported Scaffold Installer and Remover

Description

This NYC 32 Hour DOB Supported Scaffold Installer/Remover course is required for workers installing, removing, or modifying supported scaffolds over 40 feet on Construction Sites in New York City in accordance with NYC Local Law 52 of 2005. The course will cover safe methods of installation, removal and modification of different types of supported scaffolds using OSHA regulations, DOB standards and good work practice as a guide.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this health and safety course, students will be able to:

  • Understand supported scaffold components and related terminology
  • Identify potential scaffolding hazards and how to prevent them
  • Understand differences between the OSHA standards and the Building Code of New York City
  • Understand the correct process of installing and dismantling a supported scaffold
  • Apply an understanding of proper safe scaffolding work practices
  • Properly inspect scaffolding components

Course Agenda

The NYC 32 Hour DOB Supported Scaffold Installer/Remover course will cover the following mandatory topics:

  • General overview of scaffolding
  • Supported scaffold accidents, common causes and prevention
  • OSHA 1926, NYC construction code, DOB overview
  • General principles of fall protection and personal protective equipment
  • Supported scaffold erection and dismantling
  • Safety checklists and emergency situations
  • Tubular welded frame scaffolds
  • Tube and clamp scaffolds
  • System scaffolds
  • Tubular welded frame scaffolds
  • Tube & clamp scaffolds

Assessment

Attendees are required to complete 100% of the course and actively participate in all learning activities including hands-on exercises and the final course exam. Students must pass the hands-on and written assessment with a score of 70% or higher.

This safety training course is intended for experienced workers who will erect, dismantle, modify, or repair supported scaffolds over 40 feet.
