Qualified Intermediate Rigger Exam

Description

ITI offers optional rigger qualification exams (written and practical) after the Intermediate Rigging course. Candidates include riggers who are required to be qualified, meeting the OSHA 1926.1400 Rule.

Students who successfully pass the written and practical exams will earn a 5-year ITI Rigger Qualification 

Who Should attend 

All students, regardless of industry or experience level, who hope to achieve Qualified Intermediate Rigger status which meets the requirements of a qualified rigger according to OSHA 1926.1400. 

Assessment 

The course exams will cover the following topics

  • Basic Hand Signals
  • Application of Hitch Types
  • Slings: Limitations, Practices, Hazards, and Inspections
  • Rigging Hardware: Limitations, Practices, Hazards, and Inspections
  • Knots & Taglines
  • Types of Slings and Hitches
  • Below-the-Hook Lifting Devices: Limitations, Practices, Hazards, and Inspections
  • Center of Gravity
  • Load Weight Estimation
  • Effects of Angles on Rigging Components

Prerequisites 

The following PPE is required for all hands-on sessions at ITI Training Centers: 

  • OSHA-approved hard hat* 
  • Eye protection* 
  • Long pants with no holes or tears 
  • Low-heeled work boots or work shoes
  • Full-fingered work gloves*
  • OSHA-approved safety vest*

*ITI Training Centers will make these PPE items available for all enrolled students. Students are responsible for their own appropriate garments and footwear.
