Rigger Level 2

Description

The Rigger Level 2 Training Course will prepare students who currently have basic rigging knowledge and wish to progress.  Training will include rigging practices, Sling inspection, load charts and how to select the most efficient slings and hardware for the job.  Students will be instructed in compliance with ASME B30.9, and the latest OSHA standard; 29 CFR Part 1926.

Objectives

Successful trainees will able to safely perform Level 2 rigging activity, understand how to perform a pre-use inspection, and review basic types of rigging hardware and sling types.

Agenda

The Rigger Level 2 Training Course will cover:

  • Best Practice & recognizing hazards
  • D/d ratios
  • How to calculate sling stress
  • Load control using typical sling techniques
  • Common sling hitch types
  • How to perform a pre-use sling inspection
  • Load weight estimation
  • Use of load charts
  • Crane Signals
  • Overview of wire rope and end fittings

Assessment

At the end of the Rigger Level 2 Course students will take part in a written exam as well as practical exercises to verify their hands-on capabilities.

Personnel who have basic rigging skills and knowledge.
