The Silica Awareness training course is designed to provide workers with important information and regulatory guidance on the hazards associated with exposure to respirable crystalline silica dust that may be present as a result of activities on the job site or in the workplace.
OSHA regulations require workers to be trained to recognize operations that may result in exposure to silica and the methods to reduce that exposure.
Upon completion of this training course, students can expect to gain a greater understanding of OSHA's silica rules, be able to identify the competent person in their workplace, and be familiar with protective measures that employers can take to avoid exposure to this dangerous substance.
The Silica Awareness training course will cover the following topis:
A written test will be administered at the conclusion of this safety course. Successful students will be provided a certificate of completion. Testing formats may include multiple choice questions, true/false or fill-in-the-blank responses.
Any employee working in environments or workplaces that may be exposed to silica and respirable crystalline silica dust is required to complete training as defined by OSHA's Respirable Crystalline Silica standard.
Students with potential workplace exposure to hazardous materials may also benefit from the Asbestos awareness course and Lead Awareness training courses.
