Bridge Safety & Accident Prevention Online Course

Bridge strikes and overheight load violations represent a major safety concern for companies and their drivers charged with the responsibility of hauling materials and heavy equipment. The Specialized Carriers and Rigging Association (SC&RA), in conjunction with state and local transportation officials across the country, have developed this 1 hour online Bridge Safety and Accident Prevention course to provide vital information to help drivers avoid these types of incidents. Additionally, this online safety course will provide important management tools and best practices to help companies implement preventative measures to minimize risks associated with heavy hauling.   

 

Objectives

On successful completion of this online safety training, students can expect to receive a greater understanding of safety measures and processes to be followed to avoid collision with bridges and overhead obstructions

Agenda

During this online Bridge Safety & Accident Prevention training course instruction on the following topics will be provided:

  • Scope of bridge strikes and the severity of damage
  • Management responsibility for training and supporting appropriate safety and accident prevention measures
  • The permitting process including issuance and receipt
  • Pre-trip meetings
  • Load securement
  • Role of pilot cars
  • Actual load trasnportation and maneuvering 

Assessment

On conclusion of each section students are required to complete a multiple choice test. Trainees will be given two attempts to answer each question. Following a failed second attempt at a specific question, students will be required to repeat the lesson for that particular section and will not be allowed to advance in the training program until successful completion has been achieved.
