The robots are coming?

With the pool of available labor continues to become tighter and tighter, finding skilled and properly trained forklift operators is becoming increasingly difficult – especially for those in warehousing.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS,) the employment of material moving machine operators (aka forklift operators) is projected to grow 7% from 2020 to 2030, with 84,300 openings for projected each year, on average, over the decade.

Filling those open positions is a major pain point for the warehousing industry, though, and the task of doing such is forcing managers to make tough decisions: leave the position unfilled, pay higher wages or think completely outside of the box (and invest in autonomous forklifts.) Each of these come with hefty price tags, putting a dent in pocketbooks and productivity.
